Undead Guitars rise from the ashes of Red Guitars

NEWSFlash!

We are four founding members of Red Guitars, Hallam Lewis, John Rowley, Lou Duffy-Howard, and Matt Higgins and we are currently aka ‘Undead Guitars‘ 🎸🔥

We are currently working under our new name because one of our former singers, Jerry Kidd has trade marked the name ‘Red Guitars’ in his name only.

We clearly have equitable rights to the band name Red Guitars, but when we parted ways with Kidd in 2024, he registered it as a trade mark in his own name. Last December, when the four of us remaining Red Guitars released our single ‘Ho Ho Hum’ to raise funds for two refugee charities he used his registration to get our Bandcamp page suspended, and to prevent us releasing the single on other digital outlets.

We clearly have equitable rights to the band name Red Guitars, and have challenged his registration with the Intellectual Property Office. In the meantime we are delighted to be aka ‘Undead Guitars’ to release our new singles and videos ‘Blazing Zombies’ and ‘Beyond the Blues’.

We have not given up being able to use the name Red Guitars in the future but for now we are having a great time together recording and preparing for more gigs.

First Gig As A Four Piece

After the video shoot last weekend we played our first gig as a four piece, with Hallam on lead vocals. And for this special first show Matt and John and I all sang lead on one song. We’ve had a great time putting this set together, and hope you enjoyed the new songs – as well as the old favourites and zombie songs. I wonder if we’ll get to play it again! Night of the Dead Guitars!

Big thanks to everyone who came out to our Blazing Zombies video shoot and first gig as a four piece at the weekend. You all looked terrifying. We loved it!

After the video shoot we played our first gig as a four piece, with Hallam on lead vocals. And for this special first show Matt and John and I all sang lead on one song. We’ve had a great time putting this set together, and hope you enjoyed the new songs – as well as the old favourites and zombie songs. I wonder if we’ll get to play it again! Great sound, lights and hospitality as ever at O’Rileys Music Venue, Hull, thanks to Darren and team. We had a blast. Without giving too much away, here are a few photos and screenshots from video. Can you spot any familiar zombies in the crowd?

What to Wear?!

Just don’t know what to wear for our zombie gig? It would be great if you’d like to dress up for our gig and video shoot, and we’d love you to get creative with your own look. But if you’re stuck for ideas we’ll have a selection of masks at O’Rileys, collectors items, hand painted by John. Get there in good time to grab one!

We’ll be playing a special one off set of songs, some old, some new and some surprises, as well as filming the video. Sun April 27th at O’Rileys, Hull.

New Single Video Shoot

Red Guitars members Hal, John, Lou and Matt (currently known as ‘Temp Band Name’) invite you to the video shoot of their new single ‘Blazing Zombies’.

You are invited to dress up and join in with us for the video filming at 7 pm on Sunday April 27th at O’Rileys Music Venue, Beverley Road, Hull. Free entry with advance ticket only.

We have a stunning new single ready for release titled ‘Blazing Zombies’ and it’s one of the best things we have recorded to date. It’s crying out for a crazy video and it would be such good fun to get all our old friends and fans involved to help us out. We have booked O’Rileys Music Venue, Beverley Road, Hull for the shoot on Sunday evening April 27th. It’s free entry, the only condition is that you come dressed up e.g. as a blood soaked zombie, Halloween character, or something from the Mexican Day of the Dead. It will be terrific fun, the bar will be open, (but not free) you can drink alcohol (not blood please) and we will play you a few of the new songs from our forthcoming album. It promises to be a great night out so please get the Heinz tomato sauce out, rip up an old shirt and get on down.

Free Entry, doors 7.00 pm, music 7.30 pm, event over by 10pm. Please note that by coming to the event you agree to be filmed and footage on which you may appear can be used, published and broadcast as part of the ‘Blazing Zombies’ music video for both commercial and/or non-commercial purposes.

Please do not take photos or videos at the event, we do not want to give the game away before the single is released.
